On 12-13 October 2023, the Central European Academy organises a conference entitled "The Interpretation of the Rule of Law in Central Europe in Light of the Supranational Concept of the Rule of Law", in cooperation with the Faculty of Law, University of Miskolc and the Central European Comparative Law Association.
The conference aims to bring together the members of the Central European Professors’ Network Research Group on the Supranational Interpretation of the Rule of Law, operating under the coordination of Dr. János Bóka under the aegis of the Central European Academy. The research group reflects on the process of the supranationalization of the concept of the rule of law by supranational institutions that is particularly relevant and topical for Central European states, as they constructively participate in the European constitutional dialogue. The present conference focuses on the domestic interpretation of the rule of law in Central European countries – with a particular focus on the jurisprudence of constitutional and supreme courts –, and summarizes the conclusions of the members of the research group in connection with the interpretation of the rule of law in domestic laws. The conference also provides a platform to present the position of Central European courts in the European constitutional dialogue.
The ‘The Interpretation of the Rule of Law in Central Europe in Light of the Supranational Concept of the Rule of Law’ conference is organised within the framework of the collaboration with the Ministry of EU Affairs in preparation for the Hungarian EU Presidency in 2024.
