HRRL LL.M. and CEA Scholarship

The Faculty of Law of the University of Miskolc invites applications for the Master in Human Rights and Rule of Law (HRRL LL.M.). The Central European Academy is offering a special scholarship (CEA Scholarship) for this course. The conditions for the course (I), the scholarship (II) and the application (III) are detailed below.

 

I. Master in Human Rights and Rule of Law

The LL.M. in Human Rights and Rule of Law of the University of Miskolc (HRRL LL.M.) aims to provide participants with a comprehensive theoretical and practical understanding of human rights and the rule of law, with a special focus on the specificities of Central and Eastern Europe. The course will provide students with an introduction to the main philosophical, doctrinal and institutional features of universal and regional human rights protection, followed by a detailed study of the framework provided by the UN and the European Convention on Human Rights, as well as the legal possibilities of the European Union in this field. The course will also aim to present human rights issues, interpretations and good practices in Central and Eastern Europe, and to systematise and analyse international case law from a comparative law perspective, and on this basis outline the main trends. The course will also cover the transnational development of the concepts of the rule of law and constitutional identity, and last but not least the frontier areas of human rights (international environmental law, protection of vulnerable groups, international criminal law, international humanitarian law, international refugee law).

 

 

II. Scholarship of the CEA

The Central European Academy (CEA) has launched a scholarship application (CEA Scholarship) for HRRL LL.M. to cover tuition fee and related costs.

III. The details of the application for the courses and the scholarship

Compulsory requirements:

  • Application Form to LL.M. Programme of the Faculty
  • Application Form to the Scholarship of the CEA  (if relevant)
  • High School Leaving Certificate (If it's not in English in the original, a translation into English is also necessary.)
  • University Law Degree (If it's not in English in the original, a translation into English is also necessary.)
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • A motivation letter of up to 5000 characters (further formatting requirements: Times New Roman font, 12 point font size, 1.5 point spacing, the character count includes spaces). In the motivation letter, the applicants should explain:
    • why it is important for them to further their training and knowledge in the field of human rights in Central and Eastern Europe and at the international level;
    • what their career goals are in this field;
  • Proof of English knowledge (preferably B2)
By submitting the application, the candidate agrees to participate in an oral interview conducted online during the second half of September. The successful interview is a precondition of admission. Failing to be present results in the rejection of the application.
