Völkerrecht aus europäischer Sicht - Dr. Anikó Raisz

The course in German language aims at developing the German legal terminology of the students, dealing with some relevant, topical issues of international law. These issues react on current events of world-politics, but Hungarian and German related international legal topics are treated as well. Among others, the Nuremberg trials, the cases of Bős-Nagymaros and LaGrand are examined, as well as the relationship of the United Nations and Germany. Furthermore, the course deals with topics like: the law of international organizations, human rights and minority protection, law of the sea, international   criminal   law,  international   environmental   protection   and   international jurisdiction.  Among   the   current   events   of   the   world-politics,   e.g.   the   situation   in Sudan, Iran, the Mediterranean region, or the topic of international terrorism is treated

 

International Environmental Law - Dr. Anikó Raisz

The course aims at making the students familiar with the topical questions of international environmental law and urges them to reflect on these issues themselves as well. The activity of the international community, above all, the international organizations (United Nations, Council of Europe, Organization of American States) is in the focus in this English-speaking class. Besides, certain areas are examined more thoroughly, such as for instance trans-boundary pollutions, the protection of certain species or the activity of international courts in environmental cases.

The thematic of the course includes among others: International Law and International Environmental Law (IEL), Sources of IEL, Water-related issues, IEL at International Tribunals, IEL and Human Rights.

 

Human Rights Worldwide - Dr. Anikó Raisz

Human Rights Worldwide is an interactive course, focusing on topical human rights issues around the world and discussing them with the students. Case-studies are in the focus of this English-speaking class. The issues are provided by the current events, varying from migration through indigenous communities to crises like Syria or Eastern Ukraine. Women’s, children’s rights are treated during the class, just like the various international human rights control mechanisms around the world, classical topics like the universality of human rights and such new areas as human rights and the environment.

 

Introduction to International Public Law - Dr. Anikó Raisz

Introduction to International Public Law aims at providing the students a broad concept of the basic instruments and institutions of international public law. Beside the theoretical bases, the course addresses practical questions and focuses on the following key issues: the sources of international law, states, international organizations and other subjects of international law, with special attention to the situation of individuals in international law (human rights, international criminal law, protection of national minorities and asylum law), state responsibility, different forms of peaceful settlement of disputes, use of force and international humanitarian law.
